Trauma Awareness Week Proclaimed in BC April 11-17, 2021

Trauma Awareness Week Declared in British Columbia
April 11-17, 2021

The Trauma Association of Canada wishes to commend Trauma Services BC in their successful application to the Province of BC, to proclaim the week of April 11-21, 2021 to be Trauma Awareness Week in BC. “The intent of the week is to gain media attention around the stories of survivors, the role of injury prevention and education and to provide statistics about the impact of major injury on patients and their families, while also acknowledging the work of the interdisciplinary trauma care teams across BC to save lives. We wanted to align this week with the week of the TAC conference (April 12-16, 2021),” explained Micheline Wiebe, Provincial Trauma Services Director. “Receiving this official proclamation from Her Majesty, the Queen was wonderful news” Micheline went on to say.

“This week certainly aligns with the vision of TAC, to improve the lives of all those affected by or at risk of traumatic injury,”  TAC President, Dr Tarek Razek said, in congratulating Micheline Wiebe and Dr David Evans, Provincial Medical Director for Trauma Services BC.
