The division currently includes 22 general surgeons with areas of expertise in trauma, surgical oncology, hepatobiliary and transplant surgery, and abdominal wall reconstruction.

A full-time position will include a full complement of Trauma weeks (16-20) and Acute Care Surgery weeks (4-8). These include participation in the instruction of ATLS, ASSET, DSTC and other outreach courses, regular attendance at monthly quality improvement rounds, research meetings and Trauma educational rounds. There are opportunities for elective ORs and endoscopy in our group and an interest in abdominal wall reconstruction and/or laparoscopic common bile duct exploration is preferred.

Academic expectations include contributing to our Trauma Research, Innovation and Global Surgery (TRIGS) collaborative. The candidate will have demonstrated academic productivity through peer-reviewed publications and contribution to national and international conference proceedings as well as having experience in advanced research methodology and statistical analysis.

The candidate will have the opportunity to fill leadership roles in ACS and Trauma over time. Evidence of prior multidisciplinary engagement efforts and participation in regional and national committees are required. The candidate will participate in Acute Care and Trauma Surgery training of fellows, residents and medical students as well as provide research and clinical mentorship to trainees.

The candidate will be expected to have completed a residency program in general surgery and a fellowship in Acute Care and Trauma Surgery. They must be eligible for licensure in the province of British Columbia. Applicants with graduate degrees (Masters or PhD) are preferred.
