Do You Dare to Enter the Raccoons Den at TAC 2018?

Calling all rebel scientists! We are taking Toronto’s perpetual battle with Raccoons to a new and scientific level this February at the Trauma Association of Canada (TAC) Annual Scientific Meeting.  Here’s an opportunity to get your dream research project off the ground with up to $10,000.00 in unrestricted research funding.

We’ve got four (4) Raccoons, stars of the trauma world, senior trauma researchers and clinicians holding the reins on research funding for a new trauma study.  Your job as a team of rebel scientists is to wrest that money from the Raccoons Den with your innovative, novel research proposal.  We’re not looking for submissions from grizzled long in the tooth researchers, but rather in keeping with our theme, this event is meant for hungry young TAC raccoons early on (e.g. in the first 5 years) in their research career (e.g. junior staff, emerging nurse researchers, residents and fellows, medics etc.)

How will the finalists be selected?...You will need to submit a one page (maximum) research proposal outlining your team’s idea, what you plan to do with the prize money and why your project deserves the funding.    At least one member of your team, but ideally your whole team needs to be available on Friday February 23rd to make your pitch in the raccoons Den at the Toronto Downtown Hilton during the TAC meeting-we are looking for innovative fun pitches that will stimulate and appeal to our Judges and our Den Audience.   The Raccoons, along with audience support and influence will make the final decision based on your pitch.

Our sponsors Lerners LLP, www.lerners.ca have generously donated the funds to support this fun (and scientific) event.

Deadline for the one page research proposals is January 15 2018.

Finalists will be notified by January 30 2018.

Your proposal submission should include the following:

    • Title of your project and the names and designations of all the members of your team
    • A brief description of your project including details on what you plan to do with the prize money.

Please send the one pager to Kate Mahon TAC Executive Director at: exec.director@traumacanada.org
